Courtenay Little Theatre is excited to launch the inaugural CLT One-Act Festival, taking place February 26–28, 2027 in the Comox Valley, BC.
This festival is designed to bring together theatre artists and groups from across the North Island Zone for a weekend of short-form theatre, artistic collaboration, and professional feedback.
Festival Details

- Format: Non-competitive, adjudicated festival
- Runtime Limit: Maximum 45 minutes per production
- Submission Fee: $20 per entry
- Submission Deadline: October 1, 2026
Who Can Apply?
Submissions are welcome from:
- Community theatre groups
- Independent artists
- Directors and playwrights
- Emerging theatre creators
- North Island Zone theatre clubs and participants
Original scripts are welcome and encouraged.
Festival Format
Each participating group will present one fully prepared one-act production. Following performances, productions will receive adjudication and feedback from theatre professionals.
What CLT Will Provide
Courtenay Little Theatre will provide:
- Performance space
- Lighting equipment
- Sound equipment
- Stage management support
Participant Responsibilities
Participating groups are responsible for:
- Casting and rehearsals
- Props, costumes, and set pieces
- Preparing cue sheets and technical information
- Ensuring performance rights are secured where applicable
Orientation and Rehearsals
- A mandatory orientation afternoon will take place approximately one month before the festival
- All participating groups are required to attend
- Each production will receive a scheduled tech and dress rehearsal on February 25, 2027
The Venue
- The festival will take place in Courtenay Little Theatre’s “Studio at The Views,” an intimate black box performance space created in the lobby of the former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox. The space is designed to support flexible, small-scale theatrical production and experimentation.
- The Studio accommodates audiences of up to 60 patrons and allows for a variety of seating configurations, including end-stage, thrust, and theatre-in-the-round arrangements. Productions are expected to use simple staging and modest technical requirements suited to the scale and flexibility of the venue.
- Lighting is provided through two portable lighting trees equipped with a basic repertory mix of fixtures; there is no permanent overhead lighting grid. Basic sound playback capability is also available. CLT technicians will be available to support participating productions with lighting and sound operation.
