CLT seeks directors for Summer/Autumn 2021 productions

While we await the resumption of our lives and are permitted to perform
live theatre inside the theatre again, Courtenay Little Theatre is seeking a
director(s) to literally go “Outside the Box”.

We are looking for creative, upbeat, motivational ideas to mount an
outdoor production sometime in the summer of 2021. CLT has identified a
number of possible venues for such a production, including the Filberg
Festival stage and the Anderton Therapeutic Gardens.

The director(s) must be mindful of current COVID protocols, and be
prepared for auditions and rehearsals via Zoom. Given the social distancing
limitations, shorter one-act plays with smaller casts are preferable. A one-
person show, or a “couple in a bubble” would be a safe option. The CLT
library has a large collection of one-act plays for directors seeking suitable
material, please contact Adele for access to the library.

If the vaccine roll-out goes according to Bonnie Henry’s plan, there is a
good chance we can mount a production at the Sid Williams Theatre from
September 26th to October 9th, 2021. The production which had been
scheduled in this slot (Steel Magnolias) is no longer considered
appropriate, given the large cast and social distancing considerations. As a
consequence, CLT is inviting expressions of interest in mounting an in-
theatre production with a limited cast and minimal set and costume

The deadline for proposals is MONDAY 1 MARCH and should be submitted
to Adele Bailey of the CLT Selection Committee at

An Expression of Interest for directing should consist of:

  • director’s information (full name, contact information, experience),
  • copy of the script,
  • casting and set requirements, and
  • reasons for choosing the play.

There is further guidance for writing Expressions of Interest on our website:
